Bucket List, Cousins, Friends and Family

Road Trip

Last week Aaron and Jack and I packed up the car and headed off to Kentucky for my cousin Ashley’s wedding. My aunt Kathy, cousin Kerri, and goddaughter Piper also made the trip from MA and we had an amazing time! The wedding was beautiful, and we had a fantastic time catching up with family we hadn’t seen in years. It was Kerri’s first time making the trip, but it was one I had made several times with my grandparents when I was a kid. The last time I’d been there was for Ashley’s high school graduation almost 2 decades ago. This was my first time being there without my grandparents and I found that a bit difficult. But as the memories washed over me, I found myself smiling at the thought that my grandparents were with us in spirit.

One of the best parts of the trip was gathering with my family the day after the wedding and going through envelopes full of family pictures. We had a great time seeing the faces of our past and reminiscing about our times together.

And we discovered that if you put my husband Aaron and my cousin Kerri together at a social event and you feed them beer, they get pretty hysterical. They had several beverages during the course of the night and they both ended up on the dance floor rocking out to the band. Totally expected from Kerri, but Aaron never dances! I wish I’d taken some better pictures of them up there flailing around, but I was laughing too hard from the table!
