ALS, ALS One, My Tribe

Girls on a Mission

The girls and I went to dinner tonight. We go to dinner fairly often together, but tonight we had the first planning meeting for the fundraiser we are planning to host in October to raise funds for ALS ONE. My family and I became involved with ALS ONE almost a year ago and they have quickly become a huge part of our life. Aside from doing amazing work in research and care for ALS patients and families, they are just some of the kindest and most genuine people I’ve ever met and having that community around us is a true blessing.

I’ve been struggling with finding some purpose through this all and I’ve been trying to figure out a way to give back where I can. I always do better when I have something to focus on and I’ve been wanting to find a way to do some fundraising for ALS ONE. About a month ago, we were sitting around our backyard with friends and the girls and I started kicking around the idea of hosting an 80s Night fundraiser. Who doesn’t love the 80s? Our planning committee–Alana, Diane, Cheryl, and myself–kicked off our strategic planning sessions* tonight with a wonderful dinner and a lot of brainstorming.

So the planning begins for our TOTALLY 80s NIGHT FOR ALS ONE to be held on October 5. Stay tuned!

(*Our “strategic planning sessions” are just a fancy term for girls’ night out with good food, good wine, tons of laughs, and lots of spitballing.)
