Super Nifty…Look Who’s 50!

A couple of nights ago Aaron and I went to BJs to do some shopping. Big Saturday night out! On the way home, he seemed to have taken a detour. Being geographically challenged, I didn’t really notice that we weren’t going in a direction that would lead us to our house. Soon enough we were pulling into a parking lot, and I was utterly confused as he lowered the ramp and he told me to roll on out.

As I rolled out, I could see movement in a window of the building we had parked next to and as I approached the door, my cousin flung it open from inside and I was met with the faces of so many people that I love. We had just pulled up to my surprise 50th birthday party!

My husband had pulled together an epic party with some help from our friends and family, and I spent the next 4 hours feeling utterly blessed to have all of these amazing people in my life. There was music, there was wine, there were hugs aplenty!

I know my Dad was watching us from above, and I felt his presence that night in the smile of everyone I love who was there celebrating with me. I’d been dreading my 50th birthday because my Dad and I talked often about how we were both determined that he was going to live to see me turn 50. But I didn’t feel sad that night; in fact, I felt bathed in a love and peace that has eluded me since he passed.
