Last night was amazing! Aaron, Bender, Deb, and I headed to the Cape for dinner and then onto the Cape Cod Melody Tent for the Air Supply concert. After the anguish of the previous week, I was sincerely doubting my ability to enjoy a concert, even one that I had looked forward to for so long. But I pushed myself to get up, get dressed, and meet our friends for this night that we had planned. And I am truly glad I did. The concert was just phenomenal. Everything I expected and more. I lost myself in the music and the atmosphere, and was able to just appreciate the experience of being with people I love and seeing this band that I have adored for so long. It really was a wonderful distraction. And a total bonus that the super cute drummer came over to take pictures with us during intermission!
A really cool thing happened while we were there. During intermission, Deb and I went to use the restroom and on our way back a man stopped and asked about the ALS ONE bag I have hanging on the back of my wheelchair. He asked if I had ALS and when I responded yes, he pointed to the woman sitting in a wheelchair behind him who also has ALS. I definitely did not expect that! Her name is Bunni and we talked for several minutes before heading back in to watch the rest of the show. Before we parted ways, we “friended” each other on the Facebook. An amazing concert and a new friend. Doesn’t get better than that.
I found out that Air Supply is returning to Massachusetts next month to play at Lynn Auditorium. I’ve love this band for 40 years, so I don’t think 2 concerts in 2 months is unreasonable! And I may just splurge for the Lost in Love VIP package!
